PLAMO or plastic modelling is gaining in popularity among the community including women.
Yesterday’s Brunei Plamo Challenge 2014 held at the Mabohai Shopping Complex saw the first ever female champion in the Gunpla Diorama Category.
Dk Aimi Rabiatul Adawiah’s Gunpla model – SD Neue Zie – was crowned as the champion.
In an interview with the Bulletin, Dk Aimi Rabiatul Adawiah said, “This is my third time participating in the Brunei Plamo Challenge and the first time I have managed to win.”
With a passion for art and creativity, she explained that her interest in Plamo is “an avenue to express my creativity by building my own plastic model”.
It took her less than a week to build her winning Gunpla model and she shared that she used make-up instead of conventional paint for the special effect of weathering on her Gunpla model.
She also feels that there are many women who are interested in Plamo but are just shy to showcase their talent to the public. She hopes that more female participants would join the next Brunei Plamo Challenge.
Meanwhile, Zulwaqar bin Hj Zulzali from the Brunei Plamo Group said this year’s surprise is a bigger turnout in the Cars Model Category compared to the previous years.
He revealed that the Brunei Plamo Group is hoping to host a big scale event for the Comic and Toy Convention next year in June.
In the Gunpla Category, Hazim Murad was crowned champion with Hashim Abdullah in second place.
Second place in the Gunpla Diorama Category went to Md Zulfadli Zainal.
The Tamiya 4WD (Beauty) Category saw Md Ike Iqrami crowned the champion while second place went to Md Saifullah. Syuran Jaafar won first place in the Military Category.
