BRUNEI Darussalam secured two bronze medals in the ten-pin bowling team event and men’s javelin F55/56 at the 2014 Asian Para Games in Incheon.
The trio of Kamarul Ariffin Hj Abdul Ghaffar, Saidin Hj Damit and Muhammad Jamary Danggat accumulated a total of 1,717 points to claim third but 271 points behind gold medallists Korea who collected a haul of 1,988 points.
Chinese Taipei finished second with 1,837 points, 151 points well behind the winners.
The Brunei para bowlers also finished above Malaysia and Hong Kong, both countries ranked in the top 10 of the overall medal classification of the 2014 Asian Para Games.
It was Brunei’s second bronze medal in the competition after national para athlete Shari Haji Juma’at had finished third in the men’s javelin F55/56 final.
Shari will be back in action for the men’s discus F55 final today (Oct 22).
Meanwhile, Thursday’s round of fixtures include representation for the national team in the men’s shot put F34 final for Alihan Muda; men’s discus F56 final and men’s shot put F55/56 final for Hirdan bin Hj Abdul Ghaffar and men’s 100m T43/44 rounds for Razali bin Abdul Subi.
John Vianni Anak Chandau will also see action in the men’s discus F43/44 final on Friday.
