Brunei-Muara District romped to a comprehensive 8-1 victory over Combined Telecommunications Companies Team in the football event of the Brunei Darussalam National Games (SKBD) at Berakas Sports Complex last night.
The result put them in pole position in Group A for qualification by goal difference, but hot on their trails are Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Sports Council in second place, who handed the Institute of Higher Learning (IPT) a 5-1 thrashing.
Brunei-Muara District all but sealed their passage to the semi-finals after notching their third successive win in a 4-2 victory over Temburong District at the Indoor Stadium of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex last night.
Brunei-Muara had beaten Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) Sports Council and Belai-District in the earlier matches and can top the group with a win against Royal Brunei FC if results go their way.
Brunei-Muara raced to a 3-0 half-time lead through Md Ulfi, Faiz and Maziri before Azizam made it four in the 21st minute.
Christopher and Noor Raimi halved the deficit but Brunei-Muara held on for the win and tighten the grip on Group ‘A’.
