AROUND 600 athletes and officials will be representing the Brunei-Muara District in all 23 sports at the 2nd Brunei
Darussalam National Games 2014 which will be held from Nov 29 to Dec 6.
A flag handing-over ceremony and jerseys sponsored by private companies to the Brunei-Muara District team managers and
athletes of each sport was also held at the Theatre Hall of the Brunei-Muara District Office in Berakas yesterday.
Present to hand over the contingent flag and jerseys to all 23 team managers was Awang Mohammad Sunadi bin Haji Buntar, Brunei-Muara Acting District Officer who is also the chef-de-mission of the Brunei-Muara District contingent.
A representative of Suci Water from Syarikat TLT (B) Sdn Bhd, the main sponsor for all 23 sports events participated by the Brunei-Muara District contingent was present to hand over the sponsored water crates to the chef-de-mission.
Receiving the contingent flag was Awg Mohammad Fakhri bin Ismail, appointed as the Brunei-Muara contingent flag bearer for the 2nd Brunei Darussalam National Games.
Awg Mohammad Fakhri won gold medals in the 200m at the 2012 Brunei Darussalam National Games and 2013 Borneo Games. He holds the national record and was a gold medallist in the 4x100m Malaysian Open, Brunei Open 2014 and Inter-Ministry Sports Festival 2014 in the 100m and 200m events.
The Brunei-Muara District contingent are the defending champion of the 1st Brunei Darussalam National Games in 2012 with 68 gold, 38 silver and 47 bronze medals followed by Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council and Tutong District in third place.
The Brunei-Muara Acting District Officer, Awg Mohammad Sunadi said they will try their best to retain the championship title.
