BRUNEI Darussalam is hosting the 20th Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia Language Council (MABBIM) Secretariat Meeting which aims to review the implementation of the work programme agreed on at the 53rd MABBIM Executive Meeting held in Jakarta, Indonesia last June.
At the secretariat meeting, MABBIM member countries Brunei, Indonesia and Malaysia also discussed various issues including reports on the previous 28th MABBIM Experts Meeting and the evaluation and follow-up of the implementation of the joint communique as well as the preparations for the 54th MABBIM Executive Meeting that will be held in the Sultanate.
The two-day meeting was officiated yesterday by the Acting Director of the Language and Literature Bureau, Hjh Nortijah binti Hj Mohd Hassan, at the Rizqun International Hotel in Gadong where she urged officials to cooperate in uplifting the role of MABBIM in empowering and developing the Malay language.
Fifteen representative officials from Brunei are participating in the MABBIM meetings along with eight participants from Indonesia and five participants from Malaysia.
