GET the best guides to popular food in Brunei and around the region with the ‘Brunei Foodie’ mobile app which now has over 500 downloads across both Android and Apple iOS platforms in just one week since it was launched early this year.
Brunei Foodie brings users to an exclusive food-only experience with more than 50 restaurants already enlisted and an additional tool for users to share and save their new food finds.
This feature is made available in ‘Live Album’ page whereby app users can share their food finds instantly in the ‘What I Ate Today’ album. An album dedicated to local E-vendors is also created for them to advertise their food offerings within the page at no extra cost.
“As we are a big supporter of local E-vendors, we hope the app will help them to reach more audience aside from their post on their own Instagram or Facebook account,” said Brunei Foodie admin, Kamarul Ajimain in an interview with the Weekend Bulletin yesterday.
He added that through this page, users will feel more attached to the app as they are able to contribute, “Share what you eat and be a food reviewer at the same time.”
Another core content feature of Brunei Foodie app is the ‘Directory’ page, a complication of variety of local eateries from the night market stalls, hip cafes, Nasi Katok joints to fancy restaurants.
Kamarul explained that trying to find a phone number or location for a particular restaurant or cafe can be quite a task sometimes,
“So we make it our mission to list down the contact numbers of every restaurant, café, kopitiams, and stall on the page.
“Users can tap on the ‘location’ tab and it’ll automatically launch the Maps application that can provide directions to the location.”
This page will be updated regularly as and when the admins receive or find more information about any unlisted eateries.
The concept of the app is the brainchild from local food bloggers in Brunei who have been working together for nearly eight years. By using an online app developer, the bloggers have managed to provide a better foodie experience, apart from using social media to reach out to all food lovers in just one user-friendly mobile application.
The app is simultaneously linked to Brunei Foodie’s social media platforms including postings on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr with a combined number of more than 20,000 followers.
