THIRTY local talents battled it out in the qualifying round of the Brunei DJ Competition organised as part of sideline activities for the Bandar Seri Begawan Go-Kart Race 2014, which is being held in conjunction with the 44th anniversary of the renaming of the capital to Bandar Seri Begawan.
Only 10 made it to the semi-finals last night and five will move on to the finals today.
During Friday night’s qualifying rounds, each participant was required to perform their song mix from two genres in six minutes. In the semi-finals, participants were allowed to spin for 10 minutes, while the finals will see participants play for 15 minutes.
Local and invited judges will evaluate each participant based on music selection and quality; technical mixing ability; performance; creativity and crowd reaction.
Members of the public are welcome to support their favourite deejays at the finals from 2.30pm to 6.30pm.
Now in its third year, the competition has become a popular platform for local DJs to demonstrate their mixing and scratching skills, and at the same time, to meet and exchange ideas on music styles.
