A DELEGATION from Brunei left the country to participate in the Worldskills Asean Competition due to take place in Hanoi, Vietnam from October 24-26.
Led by team leader, Hjh Rohana binti Hj Hamdan, an instructor from Maktab Teknik Sultan Saiful Rijal, Institute of Brunei Technical Education, the delegation is made up of eight participants from Pusat Latihan Mekanik which will challenge the Automobile Technology skill area, Maktab Teknik Sultan Saiful Rijal (Cooking), Maktab Kejuruteraan Jefri Bolkiah (Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning) and Sekolah Vokasional Sultan Bolkiah (Welding).
Sending off the delegation at the Brunei International Airport were Sheikh Lukman bin Sheikh Hamid, Acting Principal of Pusat Latihan Mekanik, Institute of Brunei Technical Education and Cikgu Hjh Noorzainab Hj Abd Ladi, Principal of Maktab Teknik Sultan Saiful Rijal.
The student team leader of the delegation is Muhammad Sallehuddin bin Hj Salleh, a competitor in the Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning skill area.
The participants were selected through an internal competition held by each vocational and technical school in the respective areas.
The objectives of the Worldskills Asean Competition are to promote and upgrade the skills in the region and consequently at the international level, and to strengthen solidarity and foster technical operation in vocational/technical education and training between member Asean countries.
