TWO brothers were yesterday jailed two months after admitting that they had stolen an air-conditioner and a compressor, which they “thought were of no worth to the owner”, Senior Magistrate Hj Nabil PDU Hj Badaruddin heard.
Muhammad Zaid Azizi bin Sazali and Ahmad Fareezzul bin Sazali – aged 27 and 29 respectively – are among 12 siblings who help out in the family business selling banana fritters in their village.
The court heard that about 9pm on September 6, the pair were driving around Kampong Masin when they stumbled on the two items which were left unattended outside a house. They then took the items and sold them for $50, which was shared between the two.
When the owner realised the items had gone missing two weeks later, he surrendered to the police a CCTV footage that caught saw the brothers in action, leading to their arrests on September 15.
Despite being found remorseful, the court told them the act was still one of theft, which warranted imprisonment.
