A BRIEFING designed on “Reformation on Starting a Business” was held yesterday at the Brunei-Muara District Office.
The event began with a welcoming address by Awg Hj Ali bin Hj Matyassin, Chairman of the Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board. He was also the event’s co-chairman.
It was then continued with a speech delivered by Hj Idris bin Hj Ali, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs.
His speech focused on the objectives of a roadshow that detailed on starting a business and the amendments on the Business License Act.
The participants, including the business community in Brunei Darussalam, also heard a briefing on the New Procedures Business License Act 2015 (Chapter 127) that was presented by Hj Misle bin Hj Abd Karim, Acting Brunei-Muara District Office.
Hj Misle spoke on the Aims of the Amendment and Briefing on the Business License Act 2015 (Chapter 127), Procedures on the Approval of Business License to Start a Business as well as the Procedures on the Renewal of a Business License.
Also in attendance were members of the Legislative Council, officers from the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Religious Affairs, Attorney General’s Chambers, business organisations, penghulus, village heads and the business community in general.
The roadshow is scheduled for the Belait District on February 10, Tutong District on February 12 and Temburong District on February 16.
The Business License Act was operational since January 1. It replaces the Miscellaneous License and other licenses published previously by district offices, municipal boards and the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources.
On January 31, 441 Business Licenses had been issued.
