IN CONJUNCTION with the 31st National Day of Brunei Darussalam, a book entitled, ‘Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah: Leading All The Way’ was launched yesterday at the Goldstone Ballroom of The Centrepoint Hotel in Gadong.
The ceremony was officiated by the Minister of Education, Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, in his capacity as the Chairman of the Malay Islamic Monarchy Supreme Council (MTMIB).
The book was published by MTMIB and was written by Senior Special Duties Officer, Dr Awang Haji Muhammad Hadi bin Muhammad Melayong, in his capacity as the Secretary and Head of Secretariat of MTMIB.
Dr Awang Haji Muhammad Hadi, in his welcoming remark highlighted that the purpose for publishing the book is to strengthen and promote the values of the Malay Islamic Monarchy philosophy.
“We are confident and believe that the experience and strengthening of the values of Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) in everyday life is the key to political stability, economic and social development, especially in helping to combat social problems in the era of globalisation.
“This is because in practising MIB as a way of life, there are positive and pure values to be used as a weapon in facing external values that go against Bruneian culture, religious beliefs and local politics that have long been inherited and practised”.
The ceremony continued with a speech and the official launch of the book by the Minister of Education, followed with a review of the book by Associate Professor Ampuan Dr Haji Brahim bin Ampuan Haji Tengah.
The presentation of souvenirs by the minister to participants involved in the publication of the book then took place.
The book contains articles including discussions of the contribution and roles of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in leading and developing the country.
The book contains seven chapters – The Sovereign’s Aura of His Majesty, Wise and Caring, Fair and Just Leadership, Prosperity and Tranquility, The Leader of Globalisation Era, and ‘A Fair Land and An Oft-Forgiving Lord’.
The MTMIB, which organised the ceremony in collaboration with the Government Printing Department of the Prime Minister’s Office and the Co-Curriculum Development Department, hopes that the book will strengthen loyalty towards His Majesty.
Also in attendance were Director of Co-Curriculum Development Department, Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Nawi, members of the Legislative Council, deputy ministers, permanent secretaries and deputy permanent secretaries, members of the MTMIB, heads of departments, senior government officials, penghulus, heads of villages and invited guests.
