LABUAN (Bernama) – A passenger speedboat skipper, plying in the waters off Labuan was killed when his vessel collided with another boat last month.
Abdulai Anchana, 56, was travelling in his fibre-glass boat to the Menumbok jetty with two passengers onboard when it rammed into the other boat and overturned on Nov 29.
Labuan Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency enforcement chief Maritime Captain Che Adnan Md Isa said the collision caused the passengers to jump into the sea for safety but the skipper was trapped within the damaged vessel.
“The two passengers were trying to rescue the skipper but he was unconscious when they found him.
“He was sent to a nearby hospital but pronounced dead upon arrival,” he said in a statement yesterday.
