TO FURTHER develop traditional boat race in the country, Brunei Darussalam National Boat Race Association (Perkebar) through Coaching and Sport Development Unit of the Youth and Sports Department, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports organised a three-day course on boat race coaching.
The course from September 26-28 ended yesterday with a certificate presentation by guest of honour, Kifli bin Jaafar, Head of Coaching and Sport Development Unit of the Youth and Sports Department.
Forty participants took part in the course conducted by national sport coach Haji Syahid Nuryasin. The course was also attended by members of Perkebar executive committee.
Kifli bin Jaafar said coaching knowledge is not limited because it is up to the individuals to seek as much knowledge and experience as possible through various media.
He said the course participants are encouraged to produce more athletes especially in boat racing and promote the sport in the different districts especially since Brunei Darussalam will be hosting the SEA Games in 2019.
He thanked Perkebar for their initiative to produce more coaches.
President of Perkebar, Haji Haris bin Haji Ibrahim said the association will continue to organise courses and also reminded the participants that they must be strict when coaching.
He thanked Youth and Sports Department for providing the facilities and the national sport coach in conducting the three-day course.
The event took place at the Coaching and Sport Development Unit of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas.
