KOTA BAHARU (Bernama) – The body of the last victim on board the ill-fated boat which capsized in Sungai Golok on Saturday, was found yesterday.
The deceased, Wan Nur Habib Naufal Wan Ahmad Azli, six, was found floating near the river bank about 8am in Kampung Kuala Jambu, Pengkalan Kubor, about 15 kilometres from the scene of the tragedy.
Rantau Panjang Fire and Rescue Department chief, Rahmat Kamaruzaman said the boy’s remains were taken to the Lati Hospital.
On Saturday, Wan Nur Habib Naufal, together with his sister, Wan Nurdina Nadia Wan Ahmad Azli, 10, and their mother Rosmiwati Zakaria, 37, were swept away by strong currents when the boat they were in, capsized in Sungai Golok off Rantau Panjang.
The family was said to have been returning from a shopping trip to Pasar Mundok situated across Sungai Golok, near Thailand, and were among 15 passengers on the vessel when it capsized amidst strong currents, following heavy rain.
Rosmiwati’s body was found at 5.45pm on the same day, a few hours after the incident at 3.30pm.
The body of Wan Nurdina Nadia was found near the riverbank in Kampung Bakong about 9.30am on Monday.
