THE PEDIATRIC Ward at Suri Seri Begawan Hospital of Kuala Belait (SSBH) was visited by senior officials from the Brunei Methanol Company Sdn Bhd (BMC) on Tuesday as a part of an initiative to celebrate Universal Children’s Day with the 28 children of the ward.
Welcomed by the SSBH Chief Nurse, the entourage was led by Yukio Sakai, the Chairman of BMC, and accompanied by Akira Ishiwada, the Chief Executive Officer of BMC. During the event, the entourage greeted and interacted with the children, of which some were as young as one day old and the eldest being 12 years old. The tour was guided by Hjh Halimah binti Mohd Badul, the SSBH Pediatric Ward Head Nurse.
The children were also presented with food hampers and $30 Hua Ho shopping vouchers. The visit concluded with the presentation of a token of appreciation to the nurses of the Pediatric Ward.
Universal Children’s Day falls on every November 20 and is to be observed as a day of worldwide fraternity and understanding between children. It is recommended that the day was to be observed as a day of activity devoted to promoting the welfare of the children of the world.
