THE Laboratory Services of Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah (PMMPMHAMB) Hospital in Tutong yesterday held its annual blood donation campaign. It was part of the initiative and commitment taken up by the Laboratory Services in ensuring a steady supply of blood and increasing its stock to deal with emergency cases.
The campaign took place at the main lobby of the hospital. It was aimed at raising awareness among members of the public to donate blood. It was also to remind the public to donate blood to the hospital apart from doing so at the RIPAS Hospital.
The four-hour blood donation drive successfully collected more than 45 pints of blood from donors.
Prior to the donation, donors had to undergo medical screening to find out their eligibility to donate blood. It is important to check their health conditions such as weight, the amount of haemoglobin in the body, etc. They are only allowed to donate blood if they are fit after screening.
