THIRTEEN BIBD personnel yesterday arrived at the summit of Mount Kinabalu, ending their arduous two-legged hike, which started at 8.30am at Timpohon Gate.
The team was led by Hj Minorhadi Mirhassan in his capacity as head of BIBD’s Sports and Recreation Club (SRC) along with Chief Operating Officer Dr Gyorgy Ladics.
The BIBD team took just under five hours to reach Laban Rata, and continued their second climb towards the peak at 2.30am.
They arrived at the summit at 5.50am, just before sunrise.
Hj Minorhadi said, “Alhamdulillah, it has been an exhausting but rewarding trip.
“I would like to congratulate the whole team for all their effort in supporting each other to reach the peak together.
“The achievement truly defines what can be achieved when you work as a team.”
The expedition was part of the annual activities by BIBD’s SRC to provide BIBD personnel challenging team-building activities to foster better team work.
Mount Kinabalu is Borneo’s tallest mountain, peaking at 13,435 feet (4,095 metres), making it the 20th most prominent mountain in the world.
