BANK Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) recently organised a talk for its officers and staff members at the BIBD Headquarters in the capital.
The talk was delivered by Professor Salim T S Al-Hassani, recognised as one of the world’s 500 most influential Muslims.
He drew materials from his recent book to help inspire young men and women in their effort to become leaders as well as create awareness on contributions and achievements of Muslims in developing technology and innovations used today.
Professor Salim is President of the Foundation of Science, Technology and Civilisation (UK) and Emeritus Professor at the University of Manchester. He is also the founder of the renowned academic portal www.muslimheritage.com, recognising the contributions of men and women of the Muslim World in the fields of science, technology, medicine and business.
Professor Salim is also a fellow of the British Science Association, fellow of the Energy Institute, and a member of the Manchester Literary and Philosophical Society. He was awarded an honorary professorship in the Faculty of Humanity at University of Manchester, due to his achievements in the history of engineering, in addition to his engineering professorship.
He was also awarded the “Global Science Award” by the New York Hall of Science for his work on the history of science and engineering.
He has also published hundreds of papers and books, with the recent “100 inventions: The Enduring Legacy of Muslim Civilisation” published by National Geographic with a forward by HRH Prince Charles.
