THE ‘Belia Cinta Tanah Air’ programme – organised by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports – has reached 10 years in inculcating patriotism among the nation’s youth.
During the ‘Belia Cinta Tanah Air’ Programme Phase II (Experience Sharing Phase I) yesterday at Tutong Civic Halls Complex, Kamil bin Lamat, Head of Youth and Sports, Tutong Branch, said that within the 10 year period, the programme had seen many changes to the format to ensure it stayed relevant with current times.
He said the programme hoped to encourage the population to not only stay competitive, but possess a strong sense of patriotism.
The guest of honour was Director of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Haji Abdul Malik bin Haji Mohammad.
The event was attended by senior government officers, school students and teachers as well as more than 20 participants of the Tutong District ‘Belia Cinta Tanah Air’ programme.
Awang Kamil explained that Phase I of the programme was held last January, where participants were guided towards possessing the right principles and values to make them a visionary generation.
During the event, the participants shared their experiences they went through at the nationhood camp, which was part of Phase I of the programme.
The event also saw a talk by Prison Counsellor Fariszal bin Ali and Nationhood talk by Information Department Head of Nationhood and Community Section, Haji Dayang bin Haji Kasim.
