THE 31st National Day celebrations of Brunei Darussalam came to an end on Thursday in the Belait District with the lowering of flag ceremony at Menara Cendera Kenangan of Kuala Belait.
Present to witness the ceremony was Belait District Officer, Haji Haris bin Haji Othman. Also present were the Belait District flag hoisting committee members, heads of department of Belait District Office, representatives from the private sector and invited guests.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the Acting Imam of Zainab Mosque of Kg Lumut, Awang Sopian bin Bidin, and followed by a group of Pengibar Bendera Brunei Darussalam comprising Royal Brunei Police Force personnel making an entry to lower down the flag.
The national anthem of Brunei Darussalam, ‘Allah Peliharakan Sultan’ was then sung by the choir group from Perdana Wazir Secondary School during the lowering of the national flag.
After the flag was lowered, it was handed over to the Belait District Officer and the event ended with the recitation of Doa Selamat.
Members of the public are advised to lower down their flags and it is imperative to fold and keep the flag in an appropriate place.
