A FLAG hoisting ceremony was held at the Cendera Kenangan Park in Kuala Belait, in conjunction with the 31st National Day celebrations, yesterday. It also marked the raising of personal flags for pengirans, those with special titles and members of the public.
Witnessing the event were Haji Haris bin Haji Othman, Belait District Officer; members of the Legislative Council for the Belait District; heads of department; Mukim Penghulus; village heads; representatives from the private sector; associations and members of the Mukim and Village Consultative Councils.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat followed by the hoisting of the Brunei Darussalam national flag by the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF). The flag carrier team was led by the Assistant Belait District Officer. A convoy comprising the Belait Adventure Association and Scooter Owners Group (SOG) also participated in the event. The flag was then presented to the Belait District Officer, who then passed it to the Royal Brunei Police Force to be hoisted.
The choir group comprising students from secondary schools in Belait then sang the national anthem, “Allah Peliharakan Sultan” and the song “Bendera Negara”. The Belait District Officer then distributed national flags to the penghulus and acting penghulus.
