BEIJING (Bernama) – Beijing’s municipal government has announced new standards for hiring foreigners in the city, Xinhua news agency reported.
The new standards announced Sunday stipulate that non-Chinese citizens wishing to work in Beijing should meet four requirements in age, education, possession of travel documents and holding of valid work permits or residence certificates for work.
The age limit for candidates applying for programmes recruiting senior foreign experts to work in China is up to 65 years old.
Statistics from the municipal government show more than 37,000 foreigners including from the United States, Japan, South Korea, Germany and Australia are working in Beijing.
About 95 per cent hold a bachelor’s degree or higher and work mainly in the fields of computer science, education, consulting and science and technology.
