THE Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) is executing a slew of industrial projects such as the renovation of lab facilities at Kg Sinaut for the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources, which is scheduled for completion in April and consultation services for the development of the industrial park at Sg Duhon for the Energy Department at the Prime Minister’s Office (EDPMO) to be completed in February 2016.
This was revealed to members of the Legislative Council on Thursday during their visit to the Design & Technology building at the BEDB Anggerek Desa Technology Park.
Other industrial projects include the consultation and bridge construction service, road network and utilities for Pulau Muara Besar which is scheduled to start this year.
Also included are the development consultation services and construction of Sg Liang industrial park infrastructure, Phase II which kick started this year, upgrading works of Salambigar Industrial Park, Phase I which also started this year and consultation service for the Anggerek Desa Technology Park Master Plan which is at tendering process.
Over the past years, the BEDB has carried out 22 infrastructural projects worth around $453 million in housing, transportation, environment and the provision of industrial sites.
These include the construction of 4,000 houses in Mengkubau under the national housing project, 1,500 houses in Bukit Beruang, 2,000 houses in Kg Panaga, modernisation of the Brunei International Airport and the construction of surau at the airport.
Others include establishing a modern rubbish disposal site at Kg Sungai Paku, CAE Multi Purpose Training Centre at Kg Rimba, the design and technology building at Anggerek Desa Technology Park, temporary office at Sg Duhon, temporary port facilities at Sg Duhon and the provision of power plant at Pulau Muara Besar.
Based on the National Vision 2035, BEDB has outlined strategies to ensure continuous investment through public-private sector partnership in developing and maintaining world-class infrastructure. It is their role and responsibility to provide industrial sites, develop basic infrastructure, implement surveying and research work and to conduct infrastructure maintenance work.
