A TOTAL of 17 Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD) officers and staff members received their Fire Marshal Training Course certificates yesterday.
The certificates were presented by Head of Operation Fire and Rescue Department, Senior Superintendent of Fire and Rescue Sharin bin Haji Mohd Jawie.
Also present were Acting Deputy Director of Meteorology, Dayang Rokiah binti Haji Angas, as well as officers and staff members of BDMD.
The three-day course was conducted at the BDMD headquarters in Anggerek Desa and the Fire and Rescue Department headquarters in Old Airport, Berakas, under the supervision of Station Officer Andi Karmila Waty binti Haji Abdul Karim and Pengiran Mohd Shah Al-Mustain Billah bin Pengiran Haji Azahari.
The course was aimed at training the participants on managing cases of emergency, particularly the proper use of fire extinguishers and effective procedures in handling fire-related incidents.
The course also supports the Sixth Core Strategy in the Ministry of Communications’ Strategic Plan 2008-2017 under “Safety, Security and the Environment” as well as the mission and objectives of the Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) Unit, Ministry of Communications, focusing on the safety and security of workplace environments.
