THE Belait District yesterday saw the official relaunching of the Baiduri Bank & Baiduri Finance branch at the heart of the town.
The guest of honour was Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman, the Minister of Development, who was accompanied by Pierre Imhof, the Chief Executive Officer of Baiduri Bank and Director of Baiduri Finance.
Pierre Imhof in his welcoming speech highlighted that the new branch will play a key role in the development of the district’s financial sector and aims to be an active participant in the economic growth of the country.
“With the prominence of the country’s oil and gas sector and continued growth of online and mobile banking usage, the need for an experienced banker who understands the specific requirements of its customers is not easily substituted. The need for face-to-face interaction is essential in enhancing the overall customer experience,” he added.
Following the launch, the guests were taken on a tour of the branch premises led by Ngo Yik Pei, the Kuala Belait Branch Manager and Jennifer Soong, the Branch Manager of Baiduri Finance of Kuala Belait.
Helen Hwong, the Regional Manager of Branch Network for the Tutong and Belait Districts, shared, “Previously our branch used to be just a retail banking centre and has now expanded to four units from two units previously. The banking hall includes a Corporate Banking Centre and a Prestige Centre which occupies Unit Two to Four, whereas the Finance arm occupies Unit One.”
Ngo Yik Pei added, “We also hope that the Kuala Belait Baiduri branch acts as a one-stop destination for the customers, with the branch now upgraded to a full range bank which offers many attractive products which are also available in the other Baiduri branches in the region.”
Also present were Andrew Young, the Deputy General Manager of Operations Department; Pengiran Azaleen bin Pengiran Dato Haji Mustapha, the Head of Retail Banking and Branch Network; senior executives and staff of the bank, senior government officials, staff of Brunei Shell Joint Venture, as well as customers and business associates.
