ESTABLISHED in July 2004, the Tutong District Arts and Cultural Body (B2K) celebrated its 10th anniversary recently. The event took place at one of the oldest and tallest buildings in the Tutong town, Halim Plaza.
The Tutong District Arts and Cultural Body was co-founded by Hj Yahya bin Bendahari Hj Ghafar and Hj Md Zain bin Tengah. They are well known thinkers and contributors to Tutong District community especially in arts and culture. B2K was established with the aim to unify the cultural heritage of Tutong into one organisation for better manageability and adheres to the cultural policy of the country guided by the concept of Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB).
The guest of honour at the event was the Tutong District Officer, Wardi bin Hj Mohammad Ali.
In a speech, the guest of honour encouraged B2K to work harder in promoting and preserving the cultural heritage of Tutong District. He said it cannot be denied that national integration can affect the originality of Tutong cultural heritage especially when there are some similarities with other Bruneian cultures. The association can be a platform to preserve Tutong culture by arranging more programmes and publishing academic literatures that will become reference materials for interested parties and institutions.
