IN VIEW of how the Islamic art of ‘Tausyeh’ has swiftly gained a special place in the hearts of the people of Brunei, Radio Televisyen Brunei (RTB) continues to hold Tausyeh competitions annually.
The competition aims to highlight the glory, beauty and brilliance of Islamic arts in Brunei, in line with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di- Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s aspiration to turn Brunei into a Zikir Nation – based on the concept of the national philosophy, Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB).
With the increasing number of Tausyeh competition participants this year, it is evident the event is creating a sense of competitiveness and at the same time strengthening the spirit of Islam among participants.
The 8th Tausyeh Finals 2014 at Dewan Raya RTB last night saw eight finalists vying for the title in the children and youth categories.
Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Wahab bin Juned, the guest of honour at the finals, awarded the prizes to the winners.
Team ‘Az Zayyan’ emerged as the champion of the Youth category, taking home the $3,000 cash prize, certificates and the challenge trophy.
Runners-up ‘Qaisaratuz Zahra’ and ‘Firqah Al Mumtahanah’ pocketed cash prizes to the tune of $2,500 and $1,500 respectively, as well as certificates and challenge trophies.
In the Children’s category, ‘Al Khalil’ reigned supreme, while ‘Nur Nawwarah’ finished in second and ‘Al Aswatudz Dzahabiah’ in third.
Additionally, Qaisaratuz Zahra took home the overall title, which earned the team another $1,000, certificates and a trophy.
Among the attendees were Deputy Permanent Secretary (Media and Cabinet) at the Prime Minister’s Office Hj Idris bin Hj Ali and RTB Director Hj Muhammad Suffian bin Hj Bungsu.
The competition, sponsored by Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei (TAIB), Insurans Islam TAIB and Darussalam Holdings Sdn Bhd, was broadcast live on RTB2, RTB3 and Brunei Radio Nur Islam.
