THE Australian High Commission recently awarded Josie Abdullah, Austrade’s Senior Business Development Manager in Brunei, an Australia Day Achievement Medallion for her tireless work promoting Australian business and trade in the Brunei and Sabah markets. Only 10 medallions were awarded worldwide.
Josie joined Austrade in 2000 and has since worked with hundreds of Australian companies and education institutions to promote their business interests in Brunei and Sabah. She was instrumental in helping many of these companies to secure contracts with the Brunei government and private sector organisations.
Josie’s contribution to the work of the High Commission and Austrade over the last 15 years has made a real difference towards developing Australia’s bilateral relations with this small yet strategic partner in Asean. Her in-depth market knowledge, extensive connections and strong professional reputation have been integral in building the trade relationship.
On winning the award, Josie said, “Firstly, I would like to thank the Australia National Day committee and Austrade for this award. I am pleased and honoured to receive the Australia Day Achievement Medallion. Whilst I have been managing the Austrade Brunei office single-handedly over the years, my achievements would not have been possible without the guidance and support that I constantly receive from my colleagues at the High Commission and throughout the Austrade network globally. I am motivated and inspired by great teamwork and colleagues’ unfailing assistance and resources within my reach in my daily operations. I also take this opportunity to thank Australian High Commissioner to Brunei Todd Mercer for all his support and for presenting me the medallion.”
Above all else, Josie’s positive can-do attitude makes her a joy to work with and a deeply valued member of the high commission family.
Australian High Commissioner Todd Mercer was pleased to present Josie with her Medallion at the high commission recently in the company of her family and colleagues.
