A MEETING was held between Angkatan Sasterawan Dan Sasterawani Brunei (ASTERAWANI) and Persatuan Penulis Negeri Melaka (PENAMA) at a restaurant in Kampung Sengkurong.
Thirty-six members from ASTERAWANI and 16 members from PENAMA attended the meeting which began with a Doa Selamat and recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and continued with the exchange of gifts which are books from both Malacca and Brunei.
The Malaccan delegation was led by Hj Md Raus Md Sam and Aflieza Arshad. The attendees also included Associate Professor Ampuan Hj Brahim bin Ampuan Tengah and Hj A Ahmad bin Hussein, founder of ASTERAWANI.
There were poetry recitals during the meeting by representatives from both ASTERAWANI and PENAMA.
The Deputy Head of Ikatan Persuratan Melayu Melaka, Haji Shaharuddin Daud, who was also with the Malaccan delegation said his team appreciated the warm welcome by ASTERAWANI.
The meeting was aimed at generating and enhancing ties between the two associations. The meeting would further encourage cultural exchange and other events in the future.
PENAMA has around 100 members from different occupations such as journalists, writers, theatre enthusiasts and teachers.
