MALAYSIAN writer Dato Hj Abdullah bin Hussein recently passed away aged 94.
The late Dato Hj Abdullah had vastly contributed to and provided great service at the Language and Literature Bureau (DBP) during his time there.
He was a bestselling author, poet and humanist in Brunei during the 70s and 80s.
ASTERAWANI (Angkatan Sasterawan dan Sasterawani) is indebted to Dato Hj Abdullah for his years of contributions, especially in nurturing writers and DBP members in the genres of novel and short story writing.
A popular figure in Brunei’s writing circuit, Dato Hj Abdullah helped transform many of the country’s young and veteran writers, including author Firdaus H N.
Born on March 25, 1920 in Sungai Limau, Yan, Kedah, his passing was seen as a big loss to the world of Malay literature.
