IN THE midst of flash flood occurrences, the government has set up Transportation Control Posts at five different flood-hit locations in the Tutong District.
In flood-prone areas, residents may require transportation assistance as ordinary vehicles may not be able to access roads inundated by water. In this instance, heavy vehicles such as trucks, may be called in.
Transportation Control Posts have been set up at Jalan Kecil Layong (Control Post Yankee), Spg 4 Panchong Rambai (Control Post Zulu), Jalan Panchong (Control Post X-Ray), Spg Jalan Kuala Ungar (Control Post Uniform), and Jalan Benutan (Control Post Wisma), and will operate from 6am to 8pm.
A morning report from the Incident Control Post (ICP) at Lamunin Fire Station in Tutong showed on Tuesday the occurrence of light flash floods in various places. The highest level of flood water affecting populated areas was 0.80 metres high in Jalan Bangkuru, making the route accessible only by truck.
Jalan Benutan and Jalan Keranching were also affected by flood water, and rendered accessible only by truck. The rest of the recorded places are accessible.
Tutong District Officer Wardi bin Hj Mohammad Ali said the government will continue to monitor the situation, but that the level of flash floods in flood-prone areas is not critical at the moment.
