REPRESENTATIVES from Asean yesterday met to update projects on youth cooperation at the 19th Committee for Asean Youth Cooperation (CAYC) Management Meeting held at the Orchid Garden Hotel.
Brunei Darussalam is represented by Awang Zefri Ariff bin Zain Ariff, the Treasurer of CAYC and Secretary-General of Brunei Youth Council.
During the meeting, representatives from Asean member countries listened to the updates on Asean Community Youth Forum, the Friendship & Community Service (Malaysia-Thailand-Cambodia) Convoy Towards Asean Community 2015, Report Pre-Convention: Asean Youth Leaders Summit 2015, Report on Asean Food and Cultural Festival in conjunction with the 47th Asean Day celebration as well as Asia-Pacific Forum on Youth Volunteerism and CAYC status.
Brunei Darussalam delivered an update on the Asean Young Professional Volunteer Corps (AYPVC).
The AYPVC was endorsed during the Eighth Asean Ministerial Meeting on Youth held in Brunei Darussalam in 2013. This year, AYPVC will be held in Vietnam, Laos and Myanmar.
Volunteers will be focusing on environmental sustainability, working with the community and young environmental activists to promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices. Volunteers will also support a local daycare by constructing a fence to prevent children from road accidents.
