THE Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) yesterday received a delegation from Asean member countries, comprising 69 diplomatic officers, senior government personnel, lecturers and teachers, who are currently undergoing an 11-week English language programme in the Sultanate.
Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), which executes the programme with cooperation of East West Centre (EWC), has outlined several activities for the participants with the objectives of upgrading their level of English language, building a network amongst them and strengthening their understanding on the diverse Asean culture.
Present to welcome the delegates were the Acting Assistant Director for Culture at the MCYS Awg Hj Abdoh bin Hj Awg Damit and officers from the Arts and Culture Division. The delegates were briefed on the mission and vision, core business of the ministry and activities conducted by the division. They also had an opportunity to play local traditional music, fold a ‘Sinjang’ and make a ‘Dastar’, the cloths worn as part of the traditional male clothing in the Malay culture.
