THE Asean-Korea Youth Forum, a forum for youth with interest in leadership values, entrepreneurship and community development, was co-organised by the Asean-Korea Centre and Seoul Metropolitan Government yesterday at the Seoul City Hall.
The forum aimed to raise awareness on the importance of cooperation between the young generations of Asean and Korea, who will play a crucial role in forging close cooperation among the two regions in the future. Towards this aim, the forum provided a venue for a comprehensive discussion on the future direction of cooperation for the youth who participated.
The forum started off with welcoming remarks by Chung Hae-moon, the Secretary-General of the Asean-Korea Centre and a congratulatory remark was delivered by Jung Hyo-sung, Vice-Mayor 1 for Administrative Affairs of the Seoul Metropolitan Government. The keynote speech was delivered by Raul S Hernandez, the Philippines Ambassador to Korea.
This was followed by sessions on topics such as ‘Promoting and Understanding Leadership Values among Youth through Education’, ‘Empowering the Youth through Entrepreneurship and Employment’ and ‘Youth at the Forefront of Community Development through Volunteerism’.
Many renowned professors, entrepreneurs and experts participated in the forum as speakers and moderators.
The Asean-Korea Centre has been implementing various youth programmes to strengthen relations and networks among Korean students and Asean students studying in Korea.
The Asean-Korea Youth Forum in particular provided a platform for the young generations of Korea and Asean to discuss issues of common interest and encouraged them to exchange ideas on how to confront the current and future challenges together.
