TO COMMEMMORATE the 20 years of diplomatic relations between Brunei Darussalam and the Russian Federation, the ‘Brunei Darussalam-Russia: Visual Artist Exchange Programme’ was launched yesterday at the first floor of the Airport Mall in Berakas.
The guest of honour who officiated the ceremony was Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Laila Diraja Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hazair bin Haji Abdullah, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.
The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and a Doa followed by a welcoming speech by Victor A Seleznev, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Brunei Darussalam.
The guest of honour was then invited to tour the art exhibition displaying the works of local and Russian artists.
In an interview, Haji Mohd Abdoh bin Haji Damit, Acting Assistant Director, Arts and Culture Division, said that several activities will be conducted such as an arts workshop as well as visits to places of interest as part of the programme.
About 50 artworks are showcased for public viewing. Visitors can enjoy the unique and high quality art creations by five local artists and five Russian artists.
Also in attendance during the launching ceremony was Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Hamid bin Haji Mohd Jaafar, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
