AN APPRECIATION ceremony to commemorate 88 years of Inspectorate’s services in Brunei was held at a hotel in Berakas yesterday. The schools inspectorate in the Sultanate began in 1926.
Hundred and seventy four former directors, assistant directors, officers, inspectors and staff from the School’s Inspectorates Department (JKSS), Ministry of Education, including current officers and employees were honoured at the event
The guest of honour was, Minister of Education, Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong. Also present was Deputy Minister of Education, Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Yusoff bin Haji Ismail.
Coinciding with the celebration of the 100 years of formal education in Brunei Darussalam, the event served to appreciate the efforts of former directors, officers, inspectors and staff members of the department, especially for their contributions towards ensuring the highest quality of education.
Additionally, the function aims to strengthen camaraderie between the former and current community members of the Department.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat by Awg Syamsul Nizam bin Haji Badar, the Mosque Affairs Officer at Kg Sg Akar. This was followed by a welcoming speech by Mdm Tan Lian Lian, Director of the Schools’ Inspectorates Department, who was also the event’s chairperson.
Yesterday’s function also included a Tausyeh presentation, recitation of syair and a video presentation which showed photos of inspectors conducting their inspectoral duties.
