THE Continuing Education and Training (CET) Division of the Ministry of Education, the Language Centre at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), and the Embassy of Japan in Brunei Darussalam are organising the 31st Japanese Speech Contest on Saturday March 3, 2018, at the School of Aviation, IBTE Sultan Saiful Rijal Campus. The application for the 31st Japanese Speech Contest is now open.
This speech contest aims to encourage the contestants to give a public demonstration of their proficiency in the Japanese Language. This event will also serve as a good opportunity to deepen mutual understanding between Japan and Brunei Darussalam, who aspire to foster greater friendship among the people of both countries.
This contest is divided into three categories: Beginner, Advanced and Open.
The Beginner category is specified for those who have studied the Japanese Language for less than two years. Participants in the Advanced category must not have stayed in Japan for more than a total of two years since the age of six. The Open category is for those who cannot join the Beginner category or Advanced category. In each category, contestants are free to choose their title and subject but should avoid political, religious and potentially controversial topics. The winner of the advanced category will be invited to Japan in October 2018.
This year, the Japanese Speech Contest committee is organising two speech writing support sessions for participants who feel they could benefit from improving their skills in this area.
The speech writing support sessions will be on November 17, 2017 and January 19, 2018 from 10am to 12 noon. To register for the speech writing support sessions, please email to email@example.com by November 15, 2017.
