A 49-YEAR-OLD, accused of raping a minor, was given more time to seek legal representation at the High Court yesterday.
Justice Dato Paduka Steven Chong allowed time for the defendant to find a lawyer before he enters his plea.
It was the second time that the case has been mentioned and the defendant given time to find legal representation.
The defendant, whose identity has been withheld to protect the victim, is out on bail of $10,000 or in two local sureties.
On the first count, the defendant is alleged to have raped the 15-year-old girl in a bedroom at their family’s home in Kuala Belait on November 23, 2014.
On the second count, the defendant allegedly raped the same girl at the same place on June 26 last year, while the third count involves an allegation of threatening the girl on Nov 23, 2014 by pointing a knife to her face and instructing her not to tell anyone about the alleged first count.
Relations between the defendant and the victim remain unknown.
The case has been set for further mention on February 28.
