AL-IDRUS overcame a tricky test after beating IKLS 2-0 to book a spot in the next round of the DST FA Cup at Royal Brunei Sports Complex yesterday.
Rosli Ahad opened the scoring in the final 10 minutes of the first half, with much of the football built on a cautious approach as either side was unable to pile any real pressure on their opponents.
IKLS squandered a golden opportunity to go level when the referee waved off Al-Idrus’ appeal for a foul on the edge of the box.
Rosli was the man everyone tried to mark and tackle at every opportunity. Al-Idrus’ most influential player dictated the tempo and exhibited fine ball control at the heart of midfield.
He charged forward with ease and his vision for killer passes gave opponents some difficulty.
It was no surprise that the impressive Rosli grabbed his brace in the 56th minute to put his side in the driver’s seat.
In the other DST FA Cup matches, MOD defeated AKSE Bersatu 4-1 while Astavilla Vet sealed a 2-1 victory over Media FC.
Also, BESA FC rounded a comprehensive 5-0 win over Manggis FC.
The postponed match between XN FT and Jerudong FC in the DST National Veteran Football President’s Cup finally culminated in the former running 7-0 victors.
Suni Mat Jerah scored twice, with Pg Sallehudin Pg Hj Damit and Radiman Hj Abd Rahman among the other scorers.
