Al-Idrus came back from two goals down to beat Mix FT 4-2 in the DST National Veteran Football President’s Cup at RIPAS Secondary School in Tutong yesterday.
Mix FT looked well placed for an upset after scoring in either side of the match but Al Idrus hit back through Sahrulrizal and Pg Sallehudin.
The three-minute spell turned the match on its head and Al-Idrus’ efforts were rewarded when Md Sadiy converted a penalty in the 75th minute to make it 3-2.
Pg Sallehuddin rubbed salt to the wound with a late strike in the 89th minute for the recently crowned Sumbangsih Cup winners.
Al-Idrus were not the only team that had to stage a comeback as Stoneville FC netted twice in a space of a minute to win 3-2 against Oldstock FC.
Stoneville grabbed the lead through Razali Tagal in the eight minute but fell behind following strikes from Abd Gani Abdullah and Mahali Shah Hj Latif.
Oldstock’s joy was shortlived as 10 minutes later, Hj Jaafar Tuah pegged Stoneville level before Hamdan Rashid pounced for the winner.
Meanwhile, IKLS Veteran churned out a 1-0 victory over Setia Bakti, courtesy of Mohd Sapri Hj Salleh’s goal (17th).
