AFTER two months of backbreaking master qualifying rounds and series of finals for various divisions, Ak Md Ardhi Pg Omar Ali emerged as champion in the Open Masters Category of the Megastrike Masters 2014.
The Open Masters is widely regarded as the highest bowling Masters’ Category that attracted elite bowlers nationwide.
The final day of the Megastrike Masters tournament culminated in the awarding ceremony wherein all winners across all categories were presented cash vouchers, trophies and medals.
Over the last eight weeks since the qualifying session started on August 1, around 80 seasoned bowlers and bowling enthusiasts have registered in various categories including Men’s Senior Masters, Women’s Senior Masters, Team Event, Women Masters, Grade ‘B’ Masters, Grade ‘A’ Masters and Open Masters.
Natasya Ahmad Rafie became a double winner in this year’s Megastrike Masters after winning the Women’s Masters and Grade ‘B’ Masters title. Dk Nadia Nabila became the only player to knock down more than 2,000 pins with a total score of 2,054 pins to lift the Grade ‘A’ Masters title.
The Cooltones Phenomenon team comprising a quartet of Pg Saiful Rijal, Masyadi, Zurina and Pg Rudisofy netted 2,633 pinfalls to win the Team Event category. Hj Abdul Halim and Hjh Jarah Hj Sulaiman won the Men’s Senior Masters and the Women’s Senior Masters.
The tournament, approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs and supported by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, was held in conjunction with the third anniversary of Megastrike Bowling Sdn Bhd.
The event was graced by YAM Pengiran Anak Abdul Badee’ bin Pengiran Kerma Raja Pengiran Haji Kamarulzaman, Vice-President of Negara Brunei Darussalam Tenpin Bowling Congress, who presented the awards to the winners across all categories.
Also present was Major (Rtd) Hjh Sharifah Hazlina Hj Syed Elham, Megastrike Bowl’s Managing Director.
