THE Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) yesterday signed contracts with three local training providers to conduct ICT certification training courses for Phase 3 of AITI’s Basic ICT Literacy and Professional Training Programme.
AITI Chief Executive cum guest of honour Haji Yahkup bin Haji Menudin witnessed the contract signing with Techno Rada Services Sdn Bhd, Tech One Solutions Sdn Bhd and Infomars Training & Technology Solutions Sdn Bhd.
Signing on behalf of AITI were its Deputy Chief Executive Haji Osman bin Haji Ladis and Assistant Chief Executive Julianah binti Haji Ali Ahmad, while Techno Rada Services Sdn Bhd was represented by its Director Dato Paduka Mohammad Alimin Abdul Wahab; Infomars Training and Technology Solutions Sdn Bhd was represented by its Director Haji Zaini bin Haji Omar; and Tech One Solutions Sdn Bhd was represented by its Director/Head of Business Development Lenny Susilawati binti Sani.
In the ongoing effort to raise the standard of ICT knowledge and skills in Brunei, AITI introduced the ICT Competency Programme in 2011.
The programme offers subsidised training courses for citizens and permanent residents to acquire basic ICT skills and upgrade their ICT proficiency and knowledge. The programme aims to create a highly-skilled ICT workforce and to ensure the continued availability of quality ICT manpower for the country.
AITI will subsidise a minimum of 50 per cent of the fees for selected training courses that have been successfully completed. To be eligible, participants must be a Brunei citizen or permanent resident, at least 17 years of age and looking for employment or individuals employed by private companies and semi-government agencies. Participants can opt for either full time or part time courses depending on the training package offered.
The three training providers will provide 15 training courses that will run from February 2015 to December 2016.
Techno Rada Services Sdn Bhd will provide CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, and Cisco Certified Network Associate (Routing & Switching).
Tech One Solutions Sdn Bhd will provide Windows Server Administration Fundamentals, Installing & Configuring Windows Server 2012, Configuring and Supporting Windows 8.1, Microsoft Office Word 2013 Core, Microsoft Office Excel 2013 Core, Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2013, and Prince 2 – Foundation (Project Management).
Infomars Training & Technology Solutions Sdn Bhd will provide IC-Citizen Certification, Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3), Basic ICT Literacy and Oracle 11g Administration.
To date, over 2,000 participants have successfully obtained ICT certifications under the AITI ICT Competency Programme. AITI hopes more people will take this opportunity to broaden their ICT skills, allowing them to become more marketable and to meet the demand of the local ICT industry.
The Basic ICT Literacy and Professional Training Programme is supported by the Department of Economic Planning and Development (JPKE) and funded under the 10th National Development Plan for Human Capacity Development.
