THE Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) yesterday in a press release stated that in collaboration with IDA International Pte Ltd and IDC Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, it will be conducting a survey on ICT manpower in Brunei Darussalam.
The objectives are to gather a selected set of ICT manpower data that shall provide the baseline of the current state of ICT professionals, the basis for recommendations on the ICT workforce development programme, and projection of the future ICT manpower supply and demand.
It is part of the data gathering exercise to develop a National ICT Manpower Master Plan for Brunei Darussalam. Representatives from IDC Asia Pacific Pte Ltd will conduct the survey on selected organisations in the private and public sector across various industries including the ICT and non-ICT industries that mainly provide or use ICT services in their respective organisations. The survey will cover specific areas such as the current capability profile, attraction and attrition of ICT workforce as well as ICT skills development and training needs.
The survey which targets 800 organisations will be carried through face-to-face and telephone interviews over a period of eight weeks, starting September 29 until November 30.
The study refrains from any sensitive questions and AITI assured that the source of the information provided will not be quoted in its report, but will instead be analysed in an aggregated manner with the interviewees.
AITI has requested cooperation from the selected organisations to participate in the survey by providing a complete and insightful feedback to help AITI build future plans targeted at grooming future IT professionals in Brunei.
