AISYAH binti Shameen Ahmad made PAP Hjh Masna Secondary School proud as she emerged winner of the recent Bintang Pelajar Quiz, which was held at Radio Televisyen Brunei’s (RTB) Dewan Raya in the capital.
She beat five other contestants from other secondary schools across the country, and won $500, a trophy and a certificate of participation.
The other competitors were presented with $150 and certificates of participation each.
These contestants were Wahyunie from Sayyidina Umar Al-Khattab Secondary School, Shasha from Rimba II Secondary School, Afiq Aiman from Chung Hwa Middle School, Bandar Seri Begawan, Nur Haziqah from PJN Pg Hj Abu Bakar Secondary School and Ain Nazirah from MSPSBS.
The prizes were presented by the guest of honour, Hj Mohd Sofian bin Hj Bungsu, Director of RTB.
The Bintang Pelajar Quiz was a production of RTB’s TV Programme Section with cooperation from the Department of Schools, Department of Islamic Studies and the Private Institutions Section at the Ministry of Education.
This ongoing project is especially aimed at secondary school students from Year 7 to generate and enhance their thinking and shape their character with local concepts and values, especially values from subjects such as Bahasa Melayu, Melayu Islam Beraja (MIB) and Islamic Religious Knowledge (IRK).
According to Suryani binti Hj Awg Serudin, a producer from the Dakwah TV office of the TV Programmes Section of RTB, 116 students from various secondary schools participated in written tests to select the top 60 entries. From these entries, contests were held to select the final six, she explained. The event was organised by a joint committee from the Dakwah TV office and Community TV office.
