WE REFER to the Opinion page letter titled “BIA needs good variety of shops to lure tourists” by Wan Ling published in the January 28, 2015 edition of the Borneo Bulletin.
We thank the writer for his/her opinion and for highlighting the matter concerning the Brunei International Airport.
As we all know, the airport passenger terminal is still undergoing major renovation and the modernisation works are expected to double the passenger capacity of the airport from 1.5 million passengers to three million passengers by 2035, undoubtedly including the tourists as mentioned by the writer.
This modernisation will see an increase in retail space available and this is where we will strive to provide a good variety of shops for tourists as highlighted by the writer. Thus we are currently in the process of inviting vendors to provide more services and facilities for the comfort and convenience of all passengers and airport users.
We once again thank the writer for his/her suggestions which align with our vision to make our airport an international gateway to attract tourists to Brunei Darussalam as an attractive destination for air travellers.
We welcome ideas and suggestions to continuously improve our services and facilities for the public which can be submitted to our website at www.civil-aviation.gov.bn or faxed to (673)2331706 or telephone number (673) 2344112.
The public is also invited to visit our Facebook page at Department of Civil Aviation, Brunei Darussalam.
