A TEAM of lawyers from the Attorney General’s Chambers yesterday visited Jerudong International School (JIS) to deliver a talk on ‘Career in Law’ aimed at providing an insight for students interested in pursuing a profession in the legal industry.
The talk began with a presentation of the Attorney General’s Chambers corporate video followed by a briefing which covered topics such as the different ways to attain a law degree to practice in Brunei Darussalam, the difference between working as a government lawyer and working as a lawyer in the private sector as well as an insight into the Bruneian Legal System.
Talks were delivered by Hajah Zatil Aqilah binti Dato Paduka Haji Metassan, Dk Hazirah binti Pg Yusof, Kamaliah Fadhilah binti Haji Ibrahim and Sheikh Abdul Khaliq bin Dato Paduka Sheikh Haji Abd Gani.
Speakers also touched on the five-year double degree Law and Syariah Course currently offered at Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali as well as the work of the International Affairs Division at the Attorney General’s Chambers.
Following the talk, students engaged in a question and answer session with the lawyers of the AGC. The students were also invited to apply for attachment programmes at the Attorney General’s Chambers during their school holidays.
The career talk was jointly organised by the Career Department of Jerudong International School as part of the school’s yearly Career Carousel and it also represented the Attorney General’s Chambers’ efforts to impart knowledge concerning the legal profession to those interested in pursuing such careers.
