I REFER to the Opinion written by Disappointed and Frustrated Bruneian entitled ‘New houses ready but no access road’ on October 25, 2014 in the Weekend Borneo Bulletin.
I am one of the tenants who has been living along Simpang 472 for more than 10 years. There are 11 houses up the hill behind where we live. Every day we use this simpang and the solid metal fence along this simpang was constructed since I moved to this place to avoid it from becoming slippery as it’s downhill.
The width of the road is small that every time when we go out we have to make sure no car comes from the opposite side because the road has space for only one.
I had also noticed that during the construction of the 10 detached houses and 10 terrace houses (as reported by Disappointed and Frustrated Bruneian), the contractor was using Simpang 462-29 to bring materials and services to the new houses.
As the developer was using Simpang 462-29 as an access road to the site despite an empty land between Simpang 462-29 and the new houses, now that the houses are complete, why not use Simpang 462-29 as the access road which is wider than the Simpang 472?
If future tenants of the 20 extra houses want to use Simpang 472, it will be an extra burden on those who are already using the narrow road. There is bound to be future development in the area and I can’t imagine Simpang 472 taking extra vehicular traffic.
I think the access road should only be given to a limited number of houses in that locality. Adding additional traffic to the already congested road will lead to unprecedented heavy burden on those living in that vicinity.
