BRUNEI Darussalam’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government Inspectorate of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (GIV) to lay the foundation for the two agencies to strengthen cooperation in combating corruption.
The signing, held at a restaurant in Manggis, was witnessed by the guest of honour, Dato Paduka Haji Hamdan bin Haji Abu Bakar, Permanent Secretary (Security and Enforcement) at the Prime Minister’s Office.
Signing on behalf of the Brunei Government was the Permanent Secretary (Law and Welfare) at the Prime Minister’s Office and also the Director of ACB, Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Juanda bin Haji A Rashid, while the GIV was represented by Huynh Phong Tranh, General Inspector.
The MoU also allows for both agencies to cooperate in Mutual Legal Assistance, as well as share information and establish cooperation to prevent corruption.
Also present were the Vietnamese Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam, Nguyen Truong Glang, as well as officers from ACB, Prime Minister’s Office and the GIV.
