THE Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) held a Tahlil at the Royal Mausoleum at Jalan Tutong yesterday in commemoration of the International Anti-Corruption Day 2014.
The Tahlil was for the late parents of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam and Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Bendahara Pengiran Anak Abdul Rahman.
In attendance were Permanent Secretary (Law and Welfare) at the Prime Minister’s Office, Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Juanda bin Haji A Rashid, Director of Anti-Corruption Bureau, officers and staff of the organisation.
The recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Tahlil were led by Imam of Kg Sg Hanching Mosque, Awg Hj Amron bin Hj Awang.
Every year, the date December 9 is marked as the International Anti-Corruption Day by the United Nations since the declaration of international law implementation to counter corruption known as the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) in 2003. Brunei Darussalam is among the 173 countries that signed and ratified the convention.
The International Anti-Corruption Day is observed to increase awareness of the international community towards the risk of corruption and the need for nations to work together to increase commitment to counter corruption.
