ANTHONY Abell College (AAC) saw an increase in its achievement quality for the Student Progress Examination (SPE), from 9.68 per cent acquired last year to 11.03 per cent this year, which includes Malay, English, Mathematics and Physical Education subjects, according to the Acting Principal, Halizawati binti Hj Kepli, in her welcoming speech at the school’s Academic Awards ceremony yesterday.
Seventy students, including the top three academic achievers, from Year 7 to Year 11 were awarded. Presenting the awards was the guest of honour, YB Hj Mohd Shafiee bin Ahmad, Village Head of Kampung Lumut I.
Parents and teachers gathered to witness the prideful event which began with the recitation of the Al-Quran organised by the Academic Section of AAC.
According to the acting principal, 11 subjects for the IGCSE/BCGCE O Level 2013 have shown improvement beyond the national level average, which raised the school’s position in the Cluster 5 to second.
The subjects include Mathematics D, Additional Mathematics, Mathematics IGCSE, Principles of Accounts, Computer Studies, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Design and Technology, IGCSE English and History.
On top of the 70 students, 11 students will be awarded for their achievement in the aforementioned subjects.
The event proceeded with its screening of a video clip of activities conducted throughout the year, which was welcomed with cheers by the audience, as it showed the students’ commendable accomplishments.
Afterwards, the attendees were entertained with a ‘tausyeh’ performance by some of the students, which was followed by a souvenir presentation to the guest of honour.
